Essential ADHD Diagnostic Assessment

Children (Age 5–16) and Adults (Age 17+)

Our Essential ADHD Diagnostic Assessment provides a formal and clinically robust diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) through a structured assessment delivered by our clinical team.

This is our core diagnostic pathway, designed to provide a fully recognised diagnosis while remaining accessible.

All Essential ADHD Assessments include a comprehensive assessment with an Assistant Psychologist followed by a dedicated Consultant Diagnostic Session, ensuring the clinician responsible for confirming the diagnosis meets you directly.

This level of Consultant involvement is included as standard and reflects our commitment to safe, accurate and responsible diagnosis.

Every diagnosis is confirmed by a Consultant Clinician who meets you directly via video consultation or in person as part of the assessment process.

Who This Assessment Is For

Children (Age 5–16)

Child ADHD assessments include input from parents or carers and consideration of information from school or other educational settings where available.

The assessment explores development, behaviour, attention, and activity levels across home and school environments.

Adults (Age 17+)

Adult ADHD assessments explore both childhood history and current symptoms, including how attention and activity levels affect daily life, work, education and relationships.

Many adults seek assessment after recognising long-standing patterns of attention or organisational difficulties.

What the Essential Assessment Includes

Structured Clinical Assessment (90–120 Minutes)

You will meet with a trained Assistant Psychologist for a detailed structured assessment exploring:

  • Developmental history

  • Current symptoms

  • Functional difficulties

  • Education and work history

  • Daily life impact

For children, parents or carers are involved as part of the assessment.

All assessments follow recognised diagnostic frameworks.

Consultant Diagnostic Session

20–25 Minutes (Included)

Following the main assessment, you will meet directly with a Consultant Clinician via secure video consultation or in person.

During this session:

  • Assessment findings are reviewed

  • The Consultant meets the client directly

  • Final clinical questions are clarified

  • The diagnosis is confirmed where criteria are met

  • Next steps can be discussed

This ensures that the clinician responsible for the diagnosis has personally met the client, providing an additional level of clinical oversight and diagnostic confidence.

We believe this is an important safeguard and a key part of delivering responsible ADHD assessments.

Standardised ADHD Rating Scales

Validated screening and diagnostic questionnaires are used alongside the clinical interview to support a reliable and evidence-based assessment.

For children, this includes questionnaires completed by parents and teachers where appropriate.

Multidisciplinary Review

All assessments are reviewed within our clinical team to ensure the diagnosis meets recognised diagnostic criteria and professional standards.

Formal Diagnostic Report

You will receive a written diagnostic report confirming the outcome of your assessment.

This report is:

  • Suitable for sharing with your GP

  • Appropriate for treatment discussions

  • Structured in line with recognised diagnostic standards

Formal Diagnosis (Where Criteria Are Met)

Where diagnostic criteria are met, you will receive a clear and formal diagnosis of ADHD.

Our Essential ADHD assessments:

  • Follow recognised clinical guidelines including NICE NG87

  • Include direct Consultant involvement

  • Are reviewed through a multidisciplinary process
